East Aurora Rotary Club Helps Collect 12,348 lbs. Of Old Electronics

Sunnking hosted its latest electronics recycling event in East Aurora, NY on Saturday, January 15 from 10am-2pm in the parking lot of Nativity Lutheran Church.  The event was hosted in conjunction with the East Aurora Rotary Club, and over twenty volunteers from the club showed up to help collect electronic scrap from local residents and businesses.

“The goal of the event was to do good for the environment by giving the community a chance to get rid of unwanted electronics by recycling them responsibly,” noted Rotarian Amy Suda. “This prevents them from ending up in landfills and going on to contaminate water supplies and other parts of the environment. We were pleased with the turn out from the community. It was great to see people really happy to be cleaning house, recycling their old electronics, and being able to use us as an avenue to do so. We look forward to offering this service to our area again in the future, and it was a great experience working with Sunnking as well.”

Despite the cold weather, the event hauled in 12,348 lbs. of old/broken electronics including 50 TV’s, 67 monitors, 69 PC’s, and 21 laptops.  Last year, Sunnking collected over 637,000 lbs. of electronic waste from collection events like the one held in East Aurora, and they have even higher expectations for 2011.

A big thank you to all who helped make the collection event a success!
